The ever obliging Green Heron.
The ever obliging Green Heron.
With my work load non existent at the moment, I seem to have an abundance of time on my hands, so I returned to West Hythe this morning, and immediately saw the Green Heron, performing well to the small and well behaved crowd. A few more shots were taken, (well it will probably be a long time until the next one arrives), and I spent an enjoyable 30 minutes chatting to Phil Parker, whom had just arrived back from the Scilly Isles. I listened to his account, thinking thank god he never took a camera. I would still be there looking at the photo’s. A place added to my must visit notebook. Most of my attention was taken up by the Green Heron, but I did note a single Redwing in the trees along the canal bank, and a Great Spotted Woodpecker flew over, and landed in a tree behind me. Chaffinch, Dunnock and a Greenfinch was seen on the way back to my car. I called in to Seasalter on the way home, arriving at high tide. I saw at least 400 Brent Geese flying West up the Swale, and the only other noteworthy bird was a Red Throated Diver, that flew East, and only about 30 metres from the shore line. A raw Easterly wind saw me packing up and heading for home after an hour.
