A noisy Herring Gull today at Kingsgate.
A noisy Herring Gull today at Kingsgate.
Meeting Mike Gould in the car park at Pegwell Bay, we could not help feeling somewhat cheated as we left 20 minutes later, having been stung £2 to park both cars, and walking to the new hide, that we were told by a Kent Wildlife Trust representative on national television the night before, was open for business, but in fact was locked. Still, perhaps another day. The hide did look impressive from the outside, and looks like it will be a little more difficult for it to follow the demise of its predecessor.
A quick scan from out side of the hide revealed nothing unusual, so we then left and decided to see if we could get a few Fulmar pictures up at Kingsgate. This we did, and the only unusual sighting, was of a large auk, (Guillemot/Razorbill ? ) that flew over the rocks, West towards Foreness point.
