A Kestrel.
A Kestrel.
Only had an hour late morning at Grove Ferry, with a quick look in the Turf Field hide, where there were a few Gadwall, 2 Common Terns and the now shabby looking Drake Red-crested Pochard, with a pair of Great-crested Grebes noted as well. From the viewing ramp, where all the water seems to of disappeared, 3 Green Sandpipers, 2 Greenshank, 2 Little-ringed Plovers, including a juvenile, and about 30 Lapwings, along with 4 Little Egrets were noted. 3 Hobbies flew over, and a pair of Kestrels were seen, one of them landing on a fence post close to the ramp. 2 Common Whitethroat were heard before I left for home. 3 Marsh Harriers were seen during my brief stay, one a juvenile, the first fledgling I have seen this year at Grove.
