Oare Marshes this afternoon.

A Sand Martin at Oare this afternoon.
I finished work early today, so I met Marc Heath at Oare Marshes, and we spent a couple of hours with camera’s at the ready, but there was not a great deal of activity going on. 2 Female Garganey were picked out in amongst the usual wildfowl, at least 7 Little Egrets were seen, and there were 150 + black-tailed Godwits on the East flood. 2 Common Sandpipers were seen, and a Greenshank was heard, but it never revealed its position. At least 6 Avocets were constantly squabbling with anything that got near to them, and most of the time was spent pursuing the Sand Martins, as they flew around us, a frustrating exercise. Last night along with Marc Heath, Phil Parker and Mike Gould, I visited Clowes Wood, where a single Nightjar was seen, three Woodcocks were also seen and a Tawny Owl was heard as we waited for the Nightjars to appear.
