The morning at H.Q.
15/06/08
A Kingfisher, flying past the Turf Field hide this morning.
A pretty uneventful morning at Grove Ferry today, with the Grasshopper Warbler being seen and heard, and the Red Crested Pochard eventually settling back on the Turf Field Hide pool, after an excursion to the right hand pool from the viewing ramp. There were three Green Sandpipers viewable on the main pool in front of the Harrisons Drove hide, 2 Avocets, 3 Little Ringed and several ring Plovers were seen from the Ramp. At least 7 Little Egrets were counted on a walk around the Grove end of the reserve, before retiring to the Turf Field hide with Martyn Wilson, Steve Ray and Allan Ashdown, and later we were joined by Mike Gould, where we were trying our luck photographing a Kingfisher, hovering above the water on the look out for fish, but always just a little to far away for decent results. He passed the window on one occasion, close enough to snap, which made the wait worthwhile.
