Grey Heron on the Tern raft in front of the Turf Field Hide.
A smart looking summer plumaged PECTORAL SANDPIPER was seen this afternoon, flying from the rear of the main pool in front of the viewing ramp, to the spit, giving superb views, and a mental note to purchase some digi-scoping equipment was made. I was able to see the difference between this summer plumaged bird, and the bird seen here last Autumn. Also noted from the ramp were 8 Ringed and 2 Little Ringed Plovers, with 4 Redshank making up the wader count. As I was leaving the ramp, to make my way to the Turf Field Hide, John Cantello spotted a GREAT WHITE EGRET, which was flying away from us in the direction of Stodmarsh. The Drake RED CRESTED POCHARD was still present on the pool in front of the Turf Field Hide, although with the unwanted attentions of a Mute Swan, I am not sure for how much longer. A Grey Heron was on the Tern Raft, looking totally bemused at a large Carp, thrashing about in the water not 3 yards from him.
