Temminck`s Stint again at Grove ferry.
18/05/08
A Swift, one of many seen this morning.
Just a couple of hours this morning, spent entirely on the viewing ramp at Grove ferry, in the company of Martyn Wilson and Pete Solly. Noticeable was the disappearance of the high wader counts from the preceeding week, with the only waders seen by me being a single Temminck`s Stint, a Common Sandpiper and a Little Ringed Plover. There were 5 Marsh Harriers in the air together, with a Hobby passing over the reed bed, and also noticeable was an influx of House Martins, with Sand Martins, Swallows and large numbers of Swifts, which preoccupied my time, trying to capture on camera. Light and conditions all wrong, is the excuse I have come up with for my rather dismal results. A mission for the future perhaps. A Cuckoo was seen taking a young chick from its nest.
