Canadian Goose, landing on the Restharrow Scrape this morning.
I joined Mike Gould this morning, and we had the morning at the Sandwich bay reserve, with the most part spent in the Restharrow Scrape hide. We noted Little Grebe, Common Snipe, Oystercatcher, Canadian and Greylag Geese, Shell Duck, Shoveller, 4 Teal, Tufted Duck and 2 Wigeon. Swallows and House Martins were hawking over the pool, and Linnets and Corn Buntings were seen. 2 Sparrow-hawks were seen, and a Peregrine Falcon had an unsuccessful attempt at a passing meal. We walked around the wooded area to the side of the Elms, where a Firecrest was heard in the bushes, thank you Ian Hodges, and a Female Ring Ouzel gave a brief appearance in one of the Gullies, before disappearing from view. 2 Grey Herons were seen high in the sky travelling Easterly towards foreign shores, and a solitary Barnacle Goose was seen flying Northwards, fairly low over the reserve. Other birds of note were Chiffchaff, Mistle and Song Thrush, Meadow Pipit, with the usual Tits and Finches.
