Black Redstart at Seasalter this morning.
Black Redstart at Seasalter this morning.
Alerted by Mike Gould’s report yesterday, I had an hour by the beach huts behind the Sportsman Pub at Seasalter this morning. I arrived early at 7 o clock, before work, to try and catch up with one of my bogie birds, Black Redstart, having eluded me when ever I have tried to see and photograph this species. I located a pair of Black Redstarts, and watched for nearly an hour, gaining a few half decent pictures, difficult in the low light and a stiff North Easterly breeze. Also I noted Chaffinch, a Wren, several Linnets, 4 Reed Buntings, 4 Meadow Pipits, a flock of Goldfinches, Dunnock and House Sparrows, and at least 150 Starlings were present as well. Turnstone Curlew and Redshank were seen behind me on the mud as the tide encroached the beach. Only an hour spent there, but worth the trip catching up with the Black Redstarts at last.
