Purple Sandpipers.
Purple Sandpipers.
I sneaked 30 minutes at Foreness this afternoon, parking my lorry by the pitch and putt, and walking the rocks in front of the incoming tide. 16 Purple Sandpipers were counted, allowing me to get close to them as they continually dodged the waves before finally being dislodged from there resting place, and having to find another closer to the shore. Several Turnstones were noted, and a large flock of Oystercatchers were feeding on the fast disappearing rocks. Five Curlews were counted as well. A Rock Pipit was seen by the cliff face, with 2 Meadow Pipits, 3 Mistle Thrushes and several Starlings on the pitch and putt course. Herring and Black-headed Gulls were noisily going about there business, and 1 Fulmar was seen patrolling along the cliff top.
