A Little Egret feeding on the pool in front of the Marsh hide at Grove ferry.
An hour or so at Grove ferry this evening, was a rather quiet affair, with most of the time spent in the Marsh hide between Grove ferry and Stodmarsh. 6 Marsh Harriers were counted, 2 Males and 4 Females and the Female Hen Harrier landed on the grassy area to the front of the hide, giving great views. It took off and done a circuit of the pool and disappeared, only to return 5 minutes later, giving a great aerial display in front of the hide in the diminishing light. A single Little Egret was feeding on the main pool, although distant, and 2 Water Pipits and a Grey Wagtail flew over the hide. My 1st Grey Wag of the year. Other bits recalled were a Green Woodpecker, Fieldfare and Mistle Thrush, a Cock and Hen Pheasant and the usual Cormorants returning to their roost at Stodmarsh. On the way out, returning Greylag Geese and Swans were evident, but the Bewicks had not returned by the time I had reached my car.
