A flock of Oystercatchers this afternoon at Cliftonville.
On the way back from an errand at Sittingbourne, I visited the Stallisfield area, in search of Common Buzzards, as Chris Gibbard told me he had seen a few there over the weekend. Unfortunately, they eluded me, but there was plenty to look at. I parked the car and walked around a few fields, noting Pheasant, Red Legged Partridge, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, and most of the expected species associated with meadow and woodland habitat, i.e Winter Thrushes,Goldcrest,Robins etc etc. Several Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers were seen and a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker flew over as I was taking pictures of a Red Legged Partridge. I moved on, mentally noting a return to this area would be quite a good idea, and ended up in Margate. The Fulmars were patrolling up and down the cliff tops, and several flocks of Turnstone and Sanderling were seen as the tide encroached the beach. A large flock of Oyster-catchers flew East, and I was able to photograph them from above, on the cliff top.
