Fulmar on the cliff under the Lido at Margate.
Fulmar on the cliff under the Lido at Margate.
Meeting Mike Gould at the harbour in Margate, we decided to walk up to the Lido, and try for some Fulmar pictures. If we had of done our homework, we would not of picked a day with a strong Westerly wind, or a day with very little sun, but we were there so we decided to chance our luck. It was not long before we saw our quarry, and staying for about an hour, we managed some photo’s, whilst trying to avoid being blown over the cliff edge. There were about 15 seen, along with flocks of Turnstones and a small party of Sanderling, flying over the sea, looking for suitable feeding sites, as the high tide started to ebb. We called it a day at 3.00 pm, with both of us intending to revisit on a better day.
